Reflecting on 2024: Year-End Highlights
Dear Members and Friends of the hpc-ch community,
Wishing you all a Happy Winter Break! But first, let’s celebrate all that we’ve achieved together this year.
Warm regards.
Reflecting on 2024
1. hpc-ch Forums
In 2024, we gathered to share knowledge, tackle challenges, and strengthen our connections during the following events:
- hpc-ch forum on Business Continuity/Crises Management & Energy savings and efficiency, May 23, 2024, hosted by SWITCH
- hpc-ch forum on AI/ML Services for Science, October 31, 2024 hosted by CSCS, including the community dinner
2. New Members
We also had the pleasure of welcoming four new members to the hpc-ch community:
- Agroscope
- Berner Fachhochschule (BFH)
- Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST)
- Idiap
Their addition enriches our network, bringing fresh perspectives and new opportunities for collaboration. A warm welcome to all!
Looking Ahead to 2025
The upcoming year promises more opportunities to learn, share, and grow. Mark your calendars for our next events:
- hpc-ch forum on Scheduling, Resource Management, and Workflows, May 15, 2025 hosted by ETH Zurich
- hpc-ch forum on Financial Aspects of HPC, October 10, 2025 hosted by ZHAW, including community dinner on October 9, 2025
A heartfelt thank you in advance to the hosting organizations for welcoming us!
New Beginnings
We’re excited to share that we’ve started using a new tool for sending out newsletters, making it easier to keep you informed about community updates and events. This improvement reflects our ongoing efforts to enhance communication and ensure everyone stays connected.
A Fond Farewell and Warm Welcome
As we move into 2025, we bid farewell to one of hpc-ch’s founding members, Michele De Lorenzi, who will leave CSCS to lead the newly established ETH Zurich Campus in Heilbronn. Michele’s dedication and vision over the past 16 years have been instrumental in shaping this community. We thank him for his contributions and welcome him as an honorary member of hpc-ch.
At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Maria Grazia Giuffreda as the new hpc-ch coordinator. We look forward to her leadership and continued collaboration.
Thank You
Your active participation and enthusiasm are what make hpc-ch a thriving community. Thank you for being part of this community, and here’s to another year of shared success and collaboration!
Wishing you a good end to the year and some well-deserved downtime!
