Over 2000 visitors attend the CSCS Open Day
CSCS opened its doors to the public last Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Visitors were greeted with tours of the computer centre building, staff giving detailed information about all matters surrounding supercomputing with posters and on-screen presentations and scientists explaining what they use supercomputers for.
The number of visitors was overwhelming: as early as 9:30am a queue had formed in front of CSCS and did not let off until the late afternoon. The 1300 available tickets for the tour of the facility were soon sold out and whilst visitors flooded to attend the poster and on-screen presentations in the office building the scientific presentations where packed, not only to the last seat, but to the last standing room.
