The Bioinformatics Core Facility at the University Basel is seeking a Ph.D. level bioinformatician. The facility is a centralized resource of expertise for the analysis and visualization of large-scale biological datasets, available to researchers at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) and the Biozentrum (BZ).
The position is initially limited to 3 years and it is available immediately or upon agreement.
Your position
- Consultancy in the design of high-throughput experiments
- Computational analysis of -omics experiments, including expression studies (“bulk” and single-cell RNA-seq) and gene regulation studies (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA variants calling), long reads sequencing, proteomics and spatial transcriptomics
- Set up robust and reproducible workflows to standardize analyses
- Integration of multi-omics datasets
- Teaching and training
- Help with data interpretation and contribution to manuscript writing
Your profile
- Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as computational biology, statistics, physics, or mathematics with strong interest in biology
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing genomics or other high-throughput biological datasets
- Experience with analysis of proteomics or spatial transcriptomics experiments is a plus
- sound statistical knowledge and fluent programming skills using R/Bioconductor and/or Python are essential
- Excellent teamwork, collaboration and communication skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
