On the road to PASC19

The PASC19 Organizing Team is pleased to announce that preparations are well underway for next year’s conference, which will be held from June 12-14 in Zurich, Switzerland, and co-chaired by Prof. Haohuan Fu from the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi and Prof. Simon Scheidegger from the University of Lausanne. The conference co-chairs have chosen “Exascale and Beyond” as the theme for PASC19.

The guidelines for contributions for papers, minisymposia and posters have been published on the conference website, and the submission portal is now open. We look forward to receiving your submissions, and would be grateful if you could forward this communication to interested colleagues and collaborators.

PASC19 is the sixth edition of the PASC Conference series, an international and interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of competences in scientific computing and computational science, with a strong focus on methods, tools, algorithms, application challenges, and novel techniques and usage of high performance computing.

PASC19, co-sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), will be held at ETH Zurich – one of the world’s highest ranked universities – located in the heart of Switzerland’s largest city Zurich, from June 12-14, 2019.

The conference will be chaired by Prof. Haohuan Fu (National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, China) and Prof. Simon Scheidegger (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) and focuses on the theme Exascale and Beyond:

Hardware and software, the Ying and the Yang of the supercomputing community, have always been fundamental driving forces that have spurred mutual development. The PASC19 theme Exascale and Beyond aims to foster the dialogue and interaction among those two branches of HPC research to jointly move forward in the advent of Exascale computers.

Through its rich and interactive program, PASC19 aims to highlight the common challenges and the opportunities for computer architects, software developers, and domain experts in the realm of Exascale systems. As a multi-disciplinary conference, PASC19 is committed to promoting interaction among scientists from different domains, with the goal to collect and inspire ideas for exascale systems, applications, and the related science.

Further information on the theme of the conference can be found here.

As in previous editions, the technical program of PASC19 is organized around eight scientific domains: Chemistry and Materials, Climate and Weather, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Emerging Application Domains, Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics, and Solid Earth Dynamics. The program includes keynote presentations, papers, minisymposia and poster sessions, a panel discussion, and an interdisciplinary dialogue.

The Papers Program Committee for PASC19 is co-chaired by Prof. Sunita Chandrasekaran (University of Delaware) and Prof. Ümit V. Çatalyürek (Georgia Institute of Technology), while the Minisymposia and Posters Program Committee is co-chaired by Prof. Haohuan Fu and Prof. Simon Scheidegger.

The Guidelines for Submissions for papers, minisymposia and posters have now been published:

For those familiar with previous PASC Conferences, please note that important changes have been made to the submission process for minisymposia, including the requirement for an “expression of interest”, and that the papers program now offers rolling submission deadlines.

We invite you to submit your contribution through the conference online submission portal.

We look forward to welcoming you to Zurich in June 2019!
