SBB Swiss Federal Railways becomes hpc-ch’s latest industry member

hpc-ch is pleased to officially announce its latest industry member: SBB Swiss Federal Railways.

SBB is the backbone of the Swiss public transport system and day-to-day rail operations are the basis of what they do. SBB has been transporting people and freight for more than 100 years. By doing so, SBB is making an important contribution to the quality of life and competitiveness in Switzerland. SBB wants to continue this success story, even in times when the entire economy and society, including the mobility industry, are undergoing profound changes. SBB will therefore continue to fulfil its responsibility towards public transport and Switzerland in future.

More detailed information about SBB may be found at https://www.sbb.ch/en/ .

The hpc-ch community counts over 30 members across Switzerland, including universities, research organizations and companies using HPC resources.

In an effort to continually promote and foster the knowledge exchange between providers of HPC systems, every year two Forums focused on trending topics are organized.  Since mobility is undergoing a profound and comprehensive change, the last Forum, kindly hosted by T-Systems, focused on Data Science & Machine Learning, in particular on the railway network. It included 2 keynote talks, 5 technical presentations, a community development session and a stimulating “Powerlab-Experience” at Bombardier Transportation, the worldwide known train manufacturer factory.
