Workshop on Big Data, Graph Analysis and Programming on the new Cray uRiKA
CSCS has the pleasure to invite you to the Workshop on Big Data and Graph Analysis on the new Cray uRiKA that will be held in Lugano at the new CSCS facilities next May 21-22.
Speakers will be John Feo and Oreste Villa from Pacific Northwest Laboratories and application experts from Cray.
- May 21 – Presentation of uRiKA and data analysis real life experiences
- May 22 – Evaluation of user’s computational or data analysis problems suitability for the uRiKA architecture.
This workshop is directed to two distinct audiences: the researchers that plan to develop code for this machine and people that want to use it to analyze big datasets. Interested people could thus register to follow the presentations only or to present code, a project or data to analyze as basis for the second day discussion. In this case please contact Mario Valle (mvalle@cscs.ch) before May 14.
Background Information
Many critical Big Data problems are based on graphs. Unfortunately current Big Data approaches result in low performance on graphs since graphs are hard to partition across cluster nodes, are non-deterministic, and are highly dynamic.
The Cray uRiKA graph appliance addresses the challenge of delivering insightful analytics on graphs, not only in terms of its ability to handle size and complexity of relationships, but also in terms of its response time and speed of processing.
Goal of the workshop is to familiarize potential users to the functionalities offered by this machine, that is part of the CSCS portfolio, and to offer an opportunity to potential users to discuss their specific computational or data analysis problem with the experts.
